Recent changes in customs rules in many countries
Indonesia
1. It is strictly forbidden to import cosmetics and food locally in Indonesia, otherwise they will be returned, and the incurred costs will be borne by the seller (ie the sender). For commercial purposes, an import permit provided by the National Agency of Drug & Food is required for customs clearance.
If the declared value (FOB price) is greater than US$1,500, an inspection certificate from the country of origin is required.
If the goods fail to complete customs clearance within 30 days of arrival, they will be automatically processed in accordance with local customs regulations, and all costs incurred will also be borne by the seller.
2. Adjustment of tariff threshold
The local tariff threshold was adjusted from the previous USD50 to USD100. That is, if the total declared value of the goods exceeds USD100, there will be tariffs.
3, customs clearance mode
The goods require formal or informal customs clearance, depending on the declared value of the goods.
A. If the total declared value of the goods is between USD100-USD1500:
Personal items: Generally, customs duties are charged at 7.5% of the declared value or according to the customs tariff rates of different commodities, and the customs declaration is informal on a single ticket;
Commercial items: Generally, customs duties are charged at 7.5% of the declared value or according to the customs tariff rates of different commodities, and the formal customs declaration is based on a single ticket.
B, if the total declared value is greater than USD1500
Personal items: Customs clearance shall be handled in accordance with informal customs declaration, and the specific terms of local customs tariff shall prevail;
Commercial items: Customs clearance shall be processed according to formal customs declaration, and the specific terms of local customs tariff shall prevail.
In addition, whether it is formal or informal customs clearance, the recipient’s authorization letter and relevant documents required for customs clearance must be provided to handle customs clearance. In addition, the recipient shall bear all responsibilities and consequences for the value declared with the customs.
4. Customs clearance delay
Because the local airport customs strengthened its customs clearance inspection and the review of related customs clearance documents, customs clearance of goods will be delayed. In particular, the name of the goods on the customs clearance documents must be detailed, otherwise customs deductions and customs clearance delays will be caused.
Bangladesh
Local security in Bangladesh has been strengthened. All packages and documents imported into the country must be handed over to DACGTW for processing. In addition, the local customs will also conduct strict inspections on each imported package and randomly selected some documents; Affected by this, the time limit for customs clearance and transit delivery of shipments sent to the country recently will be delayed.
India
The local customs in India also issued new customs regulations. Starting from April 1, 2017, the recipient must submit all customs clearance documents before the second working day when the goods arrive in the local area, otherwise there will be a delay surcharge. The fee is charged at INR 5000/1 day for the first three days, and INR 10000/1 day will be charged for the subsequent days. The specific charge is subject to local customs and will be borne by the recipient. The seller should remind the recipient to provide all customs clearance documents before the goods arrive locally to avoid delays and fines.
