According to Feng Zhijian, deputy director of the Guangzhou Airport Commission, the Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone is relying on the Baiyun Airport Comprehensive Free Trade Zone to accelerate the construction of the Guangzhou Airport Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area cross-border e-commerce international hub port (referred to as 'cross-border e-commerce international hub port').
According to the plan, the cross-border e-commerce international hub port will have three functional areas of bonded logistics, exhibition and trade display, and headquarters services. In the future, it will be built into a leading area for cross-border e-commerce, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, integrated and convenient operation, cross-border e-commerce industry development and Commodity distribution and demonstration area, cross-border e-commerce business and regulatory model innovation exploration area, cross-border e-commerce international cooperation and exchange pilot area.
It is estimated that by 2022, the value of cross-border e-commerce commodities in the port of the cross-border e-commerce hub will exceed 100 billion yuan, and the main business income of the enterprise will reach 20 billion yuan. By 2025, the development of cross-border e-commerce hub ports will be mature. The value of cross-border e-commerce in circulation in the port will exceed 300 billion yuan, and the main business income of enterprises will reach 50 billion yuan. By then, Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone will gradually develop into a global preferred location for cross-border e-commerce business.
The Guangzhou Airport Economic Zone is an important growth pole for Guangzhou's economic development. The area has gradually formed a cluster of industries such as aviation maintenance and manufacturing, aviation logistics, cross-border e-commerce, aviation headquarters, aircraft leasing, and general aviation. The Baiyun International Airport is one of the three major international aviation hubs in Mainland China. It currently has 3 runways and 2 terminals, and will develop into 5 runways and 3 terminals in the future. The third phase of the airport's expansion project has been evaluated.
