Religious holidays in Turkey :
Ramadan in Turkey
Days off: March 29th – April 1st, 2025
Ramadan, the holy month of Islam, begins on the first day of the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. During this time, Muslims observe fasting from dawn until sunset, abstaining from food, drink, and other pleasures.
It is a period of spiritual renewal, prayer, Quran reading, and helping the needy. Evening meals, iftars, are occasions for family and friends to gather.
Ramadan commemorates the beginning of divine revelations to the Prophet Muhammad by the Archangel Gabriel, and it symbolizes unity and solidarity within the Muslim community.
Sacrifice Feast
Dates: June 5th – June 9th, 2025
The Feast of Sacrifice (Kurban Bayram) in Turkey is observed on the 10th day of the 12th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.
It commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command, demonstrating his devotion and obedience.
On this day, every family with children should sacrifice an animal, such as a sheep, goat, or cow.
Turks also celebrate this holiday through prayers, attending religious services, and sharing meals with family, friends, and those in need.
