Summer air cargo 'heatstroke tips'

by:VIPUTRANS     2020-07-16
A small trailer transports the cargo from under the machine to the cargo station.

During the summer season, the transportation of live animals, chilled foods, and constant temperature medicines is characterized by large volume, high frequency, and many categories. Whether it is a 'rare VIP' such as a beluga whale, kangaroo, vaccine, etc., or frozen, frozen fish, etc. 'Regular customers' are endless. In high-temperature weather, a large number of fresh and cold-chain goods are concentrated in and out of the port. At the same time, affected by adverse factors such as summer exposure and thunderstorms, the transportation efficiency of goods faces a test. In response to the characteristics of summer transport, the Capital Airport Ground Service Company (BGS) has adopted several 'small coups' for heatstroke prevention to 'cool down and relieve heat' for air cargo.

Due to 'goods' measures, heatstroke prevention

In order to reduce the influence of the outside temperature on the quality of the goods as much as possible, BGS adopts different operation methods for different goods to provide comprehensive protection for all kinds of summer freight.

Cold chain cargo such as medical vaccines, blood, and human organs have extremely high temperature requirements. The temperature must be strictly controlled at 2 degrees Celsius to 8 degrees Celsius for refrigeration, 15 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius for freshness, and frozen below minus 10 degrees Celsius. Affected by the high temperature during the summer, cold chain goods need special protection in all aspects of reception, storage, transportation and emergency treatment. In this regard, BGS adopts the principle of 'advanced late departure', arranges for special people to pick up, use 'temperature-controlled cars' and 'thermostats' to transport, keep the temperature of the goods constant, and put them directly in the cold storage after picking up the goods, shortening the exposure Time in a hot environment. After that, regularly check and record the temperature of the cold storage and the operation of the incubator.

For large live animals such as beluga whales, giraffes, tigers, zebras, kangaroos, etc., due to long-distance airtight flights and inadequate adaptation to high temperature environments, stress reactions are prone to occur. They will be arranged to stay in the 'animal hotel' before boarding or after boarding, that is, areas with less personnel flow and good ventilation and heat dissipation conditions are isolated and stored. At the same time, the staff will implement 24 hours of continuous inspection records on the status of live animals .

For fresh and perishable goods such as fruits and seafood items, due to the hot summer weather, direct sunlight will affect the freshness of chilled foods, so most of these goods arrive at the airport by night flight. The freight staff will integrate the cold storage in advance according to the quantity of goods, free up reasonable space, and carry out efficient fresh-keeping treatment, complete all processes such as classification and extraction of goods within 3 hours to 4 hours, and deliver the goods to the customer before dawn.

Cool delivery, 'green' traffic

In order to better prevent the heat from entering the port, the freight department has opened a special 'green channel' for storage and transportation. All fresh goods can be directly loaded onto the pick-up truck through the 'green channel'; staff give priority to the fresh goods Customers, and assist in handling procedures to shorten transportation time.

When pets or small live goods such as cats and dogs leave the port, they will be treated with 'VIP' cooling and heatstroke prevention. In order to avoid the animal being exposed to high temperature for a long time, BGS will use the air-conditioned special vehicle, and the person will directly transport the goods to the aircraft. Before the vehicle departs, the operating staff again observes and confirms the water, cage, and status of the pet dog, and the transportation driver adjusts the temperature of the air conditioner in the Jinbei car to an appropriate temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. The driver maintains a gentle speed during transportation to reduce bumps. After arriving under the aircraft, he again confirms that the cargo is in good condition until it is installed.

BGS follows the principle of difference, individuality and flexible service guarantee. According to the characteristics of high temperature and heat in summer, it provides 'personalized' protection for different goods and helps 'true service'.
