Railway transportation is one of the main modes of modern transportation, and it is also one of the two basic transportation methods that constitute land freight transportation. It occupies an important position in the entire transportation field and is playing an increasingly important role.

There are three types of common wagons in China, namely Open wagons, Covered wagons and Flat wagons.

Open wagons

Open wagons ，Letter code: C, gondola is suitable for carrying large equipment and bulk goods, such as coal.

The Open wagons is characterized by no cover and four side panels, two of which have side doors that can be opened to facilitate unloading of goods.

Covered wagons

Covered wagons , letter code: P, has side walls, end walls, floors and roofs, and has doors and windows on the side walls. It is suitable for carrying expensive goods and bulk goods that have to be protected against weather influences, loss or theft.

Flat wagons

Flat wagons，letter code: N,The Flat wagons has the advantages of simple structure, convenient use, easy maintenance, large carrying capacity, and less pollution. Usually consist of a full, flat floor with no or only a low superstructure open at the top. Flat wagons are used to transport goods that are not weatherproof. It is convenient to load and unload large and heavy goods, and it can load more goods than other models of the same specification.
